Green building and green living are taking on greater prominence and importance as our environment and settlement/development patterns change and evolve. The Charlottesville, Virginia area has been very innovative in this arena, with several green homes and developments under way,Albemarle County's County Office Building has a green roof , Schuyler (in Albemarle) has the The Quarries eco-village.
Charlottesville also has its own "green" building supplies store, Nature Neutral. I consider myself to be at the forefront of the green trends, locally at least. I didn't choose to educate and market myself as "green-savvy" for any reason other than it's simple and smart to do so.
