Work in progress ...

Match Day 2008 is right around the corner - It's March 20 this year. I have worked with UVA Medical Residents over the years (received a great bottle of wine from one Christmas '06) and have enjoyed working with all of them.

-- One question posed to me by a Resident - "Can I make an offer contingent on my matching here"? The short answer is "no;" the longer answer is "maybe" ... every situation is different and no answer is the "right one."

-- If you have questions about the Charlottesville area, or would like for me to send you a relocation package, please contact me. One site that I have found is very good for families relocating is Albemarle Family.

-- Typically, most Residents  to focus their search on houses that are within a 20-minute radius of the Medical School. Fortunately, we have quite bit of inventory that should meet your needs.

-- Bank of America offers "Doctor's Loans," but they are not the only ones that offer doctor-friendly loans. Several local lenders offer similar (they would say better) loans. I would be happy to guide you in the right direction. One of my favorite lenders, in response to my query as to whether he offered Doctor's Loans said, "no, but our program is better."

-- I would assume that most Residents have seen the UVA Handbook for Residents, but I found it interesting as it's always better to learn as much as possible about your clients.

-- UVA Chapter of College Aesculapium

"Collegium Aesculapium is an international organization of Latter-Day Saint health professionals (Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, aka Mormons). Our chapter at the University of Virginia will serve as a way to get to know the other Mormon premedical students, medical students and residents at the University of Virginia and regional attendings, while seeking opportunities to provide service to the community. This chapter also serves as a forum to discuss subjects particular to LDS physicians. The group also has social activities."

-- How do I get around Charlottesville

-- If you have a few moments, I am always trying to learn - please let me know what questions you have that you think would help future residents in your situation.
